We're traveling back to 1996 to dissect two brilliant, self-aware horror films that completely deconstructed the genre: Wes Craven’s GOATed slasher Scream and Alejandro Amenábar’s Spanish thriller Thesis (Tesis). While Scream used pop-culture, cell phones, and a set of slasher "rules" to comment on the horror landscape, Thesis took a darker look at the morbid curiosity of media through a film student uncovering a snuff ring at her university.
