Dee Shepherd: Success Should Never Cost You Yourself

from The Soulful Catalyst Podcast · host Joanna Ingram

What if confidence, procrastination, people-pleasing, and imposter syndrome aren't separate problems at all, but branches of the same root? In this episode of The Soulful Catalyst, I'm joined by Dee Shepherd, Speaker, Author, and Self-Trust Coach, and founder of the Becoming Her Again framework. Dee's work is grounded in something most of us don't expect to hear: her own recovery from a life-threatening illness. At her lowest point, she was in a wheelchair, on over 60 medications a day, and given five years to live. She decided she hadn't danced her last dance. The first steps back were tiny. Eat a little better. Move a little more. Trust herself, just for that. What she built from there became her methodology, and the foundation of everything she now teaches. The insight at the centre of it is deceptively simple. Self-trust isn't one thing in a list of things to work on. It's the root cause underneath all of them. When it's missing, you research endlessly, ask everyone else for answers, second-guess your decisions, and quietly erode your own confidence every time you don't follow through on something you told yourself you'd do. When it's present, you make decisions faster, take action from a calmer place, and start building evidence that you are, actually, someone who does what she says she'll do. Dee's Trust Tokens methodology does exactly that. Small, stackable acts of self-trust that build evidence over emotion, and rewire the story you've been telling about yourself. In this episode, we explore: ➤ Why self-trust is the root, not the branch, and how working on it changes confidence, procrastination, people-pleasing and imposter syndrome all at once ➤ The Trust Tokens methodology, and how building evidence over emotion creates lasting change without adding another overwhelming task to your list ➤ What happens when you keep asking everyone else, and why getting ten different opinions leaves you more confused than when you started ➤ How Dee reversed her own diagnosis, and what the journey from wheelchair to fit and healthy taught her about what actually creates change This episode is for any woman who knows what she wants but keeps getting in her own way, and is ready to find out why.
