Deep Dive Special: CryptoAssets, What's the Difference?

The team offers a comprehensive comparison between Bitcoin and various altcoins, particularly Ethereum and Solana, highlighting their fundamental differences in purpose, architecture, decentralization, and security. They explain that Bitcoin was designed as a secure, decentralized monetary asset with a fixed supply, emphasizing its Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus mechanism and "fair launch." In contrast, altcoins like Ethereum and Solana prioritize functional expansion and scalability for decentralized applications through Proof-of-Stake (PoS) and unique architectural innovations, leading to distinct trade-offs in decentralization and security. The team concludes that Bitcoin's value is protected by its accumulated network effects, including its security, liquidity, and social consensus, which are not replicable by simply copying its open-source code.
