Back in 1993, as Next Generation was in its sixth season, Star Trek launched its next bold chapter: Deep Space Nine, the story of a Starfleet crew taking over control of a Cardassian space station. The cast was rounded out by a (at first) hostile Bajoran officer, a curmudgeonly constable, and a Ferengi shopkeeper.
