DeKalb Commissioner wants data center impact study; Uncertainty for unaccompanied migrant children as government withholds legal counsel funding

The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners have put a moratorium on new data center applications through 2027. In the meantime, the county lawmakers are developing new regulations. However, Commissioner Ted Terry expressed his skepticism about the benefits of the quickly wide spreading technology hubs. Joining today’s Closer Look with Rose Scott, Terry said he wants a long-term impact study before he decides whether more data centers are right for DeKalb County.   Also on today’s Closer Look, the Trump Administration has reportedly withheld $65 million from law offices across the country that represent unaccompanied minors. Without the federal government honoring its contract to fund the program, it’s due to expire July 31. Without a lawyer, children reportedly have a less than 10% chance of staying in the U.S. and immigration judges are nearly 100 times less likely to grant relief to a child.
