A una distancia directa de menos de 200 kilómetros al norte de Beijing, se encuentra la granja forestal estatal de mecánica de Saihanba de Hebei, el bosque artificial más grande del mundo con una extensión de 74 700 hectáreas. A lo largo de la segunda mitad del siglo pasado, varias generaciones de Saihanba no solo han realizado el milagro de transformar el desierto en bosque, sino que también han logrado el desarrollo verde de la sociedad económica de la granja forestal y sus alrededores.
