Delaney Hall detention center resumes family visitation after suspension over protests

Mikie Sherrill says visitation has resumed at an ICE facility in Newark, where protesters both for and against ICE have clashed over the last week. ... Three changes to Philadelphia’s Home Rule Charter are closer to getting on the November ballot, after a city council committee approved them last week. That's in keeping with Mayor Cherelle Parker’s executive order, intended to avoid conflicts with federal rules against policies that promote diversity, equity and inclusion. ... A new report says the number of police officers has risen nationally following historic lows during the pandemic, while violent crime has also declined. The report also notes that while police trust among Black Americans has risen since 2020, it’s modest.
