Delight in the Law of the Lord“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.” – Psalm 1:2. Have you ever stopped to think about what really brings you pleasure? Today, most people look for pleasure in things that fade quickly — social media, shows, music, relationships… But the psalmist talks about a completely different kind of pleasure — one that never ends, because it comes from God.The verse says, “his delight is in the law of the Lord.” The word delight here comes from the Hebrew chefets, which also means desire. That means the righteous person desires to be with God, to know His will, to dive deep into His Word. He doesn’t read the Bible out of duty — he reads it because he’s found the true source of joy.And notice: he meditates day and night. The word meditate comes from hagah, which literally means “to murmur” or “to speak softly.” It’s like the righteous person is constantly talking with God — while walking, working, studying, or even when lying awake at night. The Word becomes part of his thoughts, his heart, his life.Now think for a moment: what fills your mind when you’re alone? What have you been feeding your soul — God’s Word, or the noise of the world? Many young people today feel empty, lost, anxious — because the time that should be spent with God is being replaced by distractions that steal peace and kill faith.But the psalmist discovered a secret: the more he filled himself with the Word, the stronger, happier, and more purposeful he became. He didn’t need applause, likes, or approval — just the confidence of walking with God.Maybe you need to rediscover that kind of joy. Maybe God is calling you today to talk to Him again, to open your Bible with a willing heart, to let the Holy Spirit speak to you in the quiet moments.Today, choose the same path the psalmist chose. Turn off the noise around you for a while and listen again to God’s voice. Meditate on His Word — not as a routine, but as a reunion. And you will find — or rediscover — the deepest and truest joy there is: the joy of being with the Lord, day and night.
