Democrat Laura Benjamin outlines priorities in bid to unseat Van Orden in WI-3

from WIZM - La Crosse Talk Interviews · host WIZM News Staff

Laura Benjamin, a Democrat running for the US House in Wisconsin’s 3rd District, stopped in studio last week to talk about her priorities if elected to Congress. Those include tackling the affordability crisis — from raising the minimum wage to having universal healthcare. She also said she’d like to see the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision overturned, which gave corporations the same free-speech rights as people. We also discussed her social media exchanges with Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R - Prairie du Chien) — the incumbent she hopes to unseat next fall. Benjamin is one of three Democrats in the race so far, along with Rebecca Cooke and Emily Berge. The primary is set for Aug. 11, 2026. We started the show with a little local La Crosse politics, as Benjamin previously served on the Eau Claire City Council. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
