DENYING THE FLESH!
from The Kingdom Of God First Podcast. · host Tewe Kolade Felix
Scripture: Luke 9:23 "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me." Following Jesus isn’t a one-time decision—it’s a daily surrender. In Luke 9:23, Christ clearly outlines the cost of discipleship: denying ourselves, taking up our cross, and following Him. This means choosing His will over our own desires, comfort, or pride. It’s a call to live counter to the flesh, which constantly seeks gratification, control, and ease. Denying the flesh isn’t about punishing ourselves, but about aligning our lives with God's purpose. It’s choosing forgiveness when we want revenge, purity when tempted by sin, and humility when pride knocks. Every day presents us with a crossroads: will we follow self, or will we follow Christ? Taking up our cross is about dying to the old nature and walking in the power of the Spirit. It may be uncomfortable, but it leads to life, peace, and the joy of becoming more like Jesus. This kind of living doesn’t just bless us—it becomes a testimony of God’s transforming power to the world. Today, ask yourself: What part of my flesh am I being called to deny today so I can follow Christ more fully? Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to deny myself and follow You wholeheartedly. Give me the strength to say no to the flesh and yes to Your Spirit. May my life reflect Your cross and bring glory to Your name. Amen.
