Denzel Ward Joins Guardians Ownership | Cleveland Guardians News

Denzel Ward, Cleveland’s own Pro Bowl cornerback and Browns star, has officially joined the Guardians ownership group — cementing his legacy as a hometown hero. Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, Ward played college ball at Ohio State and was drafted fourth overall in 2018. Now, he’s bringing his community-first spirit to baseball, launching a new chapter while honoring his roots. Beyond the field, he’s making waves with his Make Them Know Your Name Foundation, fighting heart disease and pushing for lifesaving AEDs in schools — all while running free youth camps that blend football, mentorship, and health education. The Guardians are celebrating his arrival with a special event against the White Sox, recognizing a player who’s not just winning games but building a better Cleveland.
