Born and raised in Los Angeles, Derek Day infuses rock, R&B, soul, punk and pop as he engages and captivates the audience with high-energy musical theatrics. His lead guitar skills are a perfect accompaniment to his burning, gritty, soulful contralto vocals. Derek is a self-taught guitarists who honed his amazing skills through performing on the streets of Santa Monica since he was 13. A few months after releasing his first solo EP in Summer 2016, he opened for the final days of Steve Vai's 25th Anniversary tour of the Passion And Warfare album. This quick success launched a snowball that led to performing at NAMM, the Sundance Film Festival and, by the spring of 2017, opening up for Living Colour. As the buzz of the new LA phenom rippled through the music world, Derek opened for Ted Nugent on the "Rocking' America Again" tour, performed with Vernon Reid and Corey Glover for the Chuck Berry Tribute, released his single FACE ME which includes performances from Philip Bynoe (Steve Vai/Slash), Rodger Carter (John 5/Rick Springfield) and Paul Trudeau (Billy Idol/Lifehouse), was officially endorsed by Fender, opened again for Living Colour on the "Shade in the USA" tour, opened for Steel Panther, headlined numerous shows in the LA gig scene, again played NAMM for VocoPro, Vocal Eze and Fender, toured Sweden and England including The Byline Festival, opened for Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators at the Palladium, performed with Steve Vai, Vernon Reid and Moby in a charity event that was viewed by 850,000 people worldwide........and more!!! Then COVID shut everything down. Along with the music world, Top Hill Recording can't wait to see where things go for this talented young guitarist and vocalist when things open again!
