Derrick White Returns to Buffs | Colorado Buffaloes Basketball News

Derrick White, NBA champion and Olympic gold medalist, is back home as president of basketball strategy for the Colorado Buffaloes — not just as a former star, but as a mentor shaping the program’s future. Though his NBA schedule limits his on-court role, his influence is already felt, especially among freshmen who’re learning from a legend. Coach Tad Boyle envisions a broader legacy: reuniting all former Buffs, no matter their playing time, under the “once a Buff, always a Buff” ethos — extending that bond across all sports. This move signals a powerful trend: elite alumni returning to uplift their alma maters, building a stronger, more connected athletic family for generations to come.
