------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Descarga Cultura UNAM and Gerardo Kleinburg present Aida by Verdi On this episode of Behind the Curtain, you’ll be listening to a talk presented by Gerardo Kleinburg and graciously shared by the National Autonomous University of Mexico and Descarga Cultura UNAM. In this installment, Gerardo Kleinburg invites you to approach a classic of the genre in a different way, leaving aside the grandiloquence of the triumphal march that announces with trumpets the victory of the Egyptians over the Ethiopians, a passage that is deeply rooted in the collective memory of the spectators: "That is not Aida, that is, in any case, a kind of set, curtain and context." What Kleinburg is committed to is to glimpse the intimacy of this opera, to enjoy the way in which Verdi approaches the lives of characters through verbal, emotional and affective exchanges. Giuseppe Verdi (Le Roncole,1813- Milan, 1901). Composer and outstanding exponent of Italian Romanticism. In 1939 he premiered the first work that gave him success, Oberto, Count of San Bonifacio. Other Verdi creations such as Macbeth (1847) and Aida (1871) are some examples that continue to delight audiences in theaters around the world, in addition to the works that established him as the greatest opera composer of the 19th century: Nabucco (1842), Rigoletto (1851), Il Trovatore (1852), and La Traviata (1853).
