DESIGN EDUCATION: A FRAMEWORK FOR THE FUTURE.A special off the series podcast from theDESIGNSCAPES POLICY FORUM: DESIGN AND PUBLIC POLICY A TWO WAY STREET.Co-hosted organised by the Econcult of the University of Valencia and the Valencia Capital Association of Disseny, with the support of Centro Cultural La Nau of University of Valencia, La Ciutat de les Artes i les Ciencies, and the municipal government from Valencia. This forum aims to explore a two-way street approach for design policy, advocating for favourable public policy to foster urban design-enabled innovation on the one hand, and on the other hand, using good design to empower public policymaking.By doing so, the forum creates a public arena to debate, discuss and explain why and how innovators in the public and private sectors in Europe can benefit from integrating design with the urban dimension and further to formulate proposals for vertical policy measures – to be adopted at European Union (EU), Member State (MS) and Regional levels – that can boost the design capacity and capability of European innovation actors and systems.Based on the latest results of the #DESIGNSCAPES project and other parallel studies, the forum will deliver scientific and empirical evidence around the world to show how design enables urban innovation to address a series of global challenges, with a particular focus on environmental sustainability, digital economies, wellbeing and European values.Lefteris Heretakis MA RCA: Visual communicator, lecturer and podcaster with extensive knowledge and experience in the creative industries. My clients include publishers, magazines, multinational advertising agencies, as well as ambitious entrepreneurs. Guided by proactive commitment to our partners needs with electrifying originality, sound judgment, and strict morals. Specialising in a wide range of creative projects, ranging from handmade corporate identity to effective and eye-popping publishing. What is visual communication about, if not to subvert the familiar, shed new light on commonplace situations. We have the possibility to store entire libraries in a pocket-sized disk, but our own memory is constantly written and deleted by the overwhelming flow of images and sounds, rushing before us. This has resulted in us ignoring and dismissing a large amount of information a priori, without looking closely at the meaning it may possibly contain. It is our responsibility to remedy this consumption. One of the solutions, is to alter the amount, content and quality of what we are bombarded with everyday. We live in our cosily created reality bubble. It is time to burst it and see what happens...#DESIGNSCAPESEU #DESIGNSCAPESPOLICYFORUM Support the showSince its inception in 2019, Design Education Talks podcast has served as a dynamic platform for the exchange of insights and ideas within the realm of art and design education.
