Designing with Baraka : Infusing Blessings into Visual Communication
from Ctrl Alt Ronin Hosted by Ronin Graphics
Deep Dive Discussion : "Designing with Baraka", presents a framework for integrating the Islamic concept of baraka, or blessings, into visual communication. The authors, a design firm based in Amman, propose that incorporating baraka into design practice is not about superficial aesthetics, but rather about imbuing work with a higher purpose and a sense of ethical responsibility. This is achieved through several key principles: intention, ensuring designs contribute positively to the world; ethical considerations, aligning designs with values and promoting social good; sustainability, prioritizing eco-friendly practices; inclusivity, making designs accessible to diverse audiences; traditional elements, incorporating Islamic art and calligraphy; community, fostering collaboration and sharing knowledge; and gratitude, acknowledging the divine source of creative ability. By embracing these principles, the authors believe designers can create impactful, resonant work that transcends aesthetics and fosters connection, understanding, and positive change.
