"Hello Linux Fans, Welcome to episode 5 for 1-14-17 Truly sad news from Ikey Doherty Quote "Solus won't ever have the AUR" End Quote Ikey, We know, We know, and although we are kidding, we can always dream about having such a stable, fast OS like Solus with the power of the AUR. https://solus-project.com/ We discuss breaking down GNU/Linux into its simplest form In our discussion we discuss adding PPA's or Repositories and the example we used was adding the Brisk Menu to Ubuntu. https://launchpad.net/~flexiondotorg/+archive/ubuntu/brisk-menu https://github.com/solus-project/brisk-menu ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ News KDE Neon Invites Users to Test Drive the Latest Wayland ISO with KDE Plasma 5.9 http://news.softpedia.com/news/kde-neon-invites-users-to-test-drive-the-latest-wayland-iso-with-kde-plasma-5-9-511717.shtml KDE Plasma 5.9 Beta, Brings Back Global Menus & KShell*** http://news.softpedia.com/news/kde-kicks-off-2017-in-style-with-kde-plasma-5-9-beta-brings-back-global-menus-511786.shtml The first point release of the KDE Applications 16.12 software suite http://news.softpedia.com/news/kde-applications-16-12-gets-its-first-point-release-over-40-recorded-bugs-fixed-511787.shtml KDE Neon Invites Users to Test Drive the Latest Wayland ISO with KDE Plasma 5.9 http://news.softpedia.com/news/kde-neon-invites-users-to-test-drive-the-latest-wayland-iso-with-kde-plasma-5-9-511717.shtml Discord Launches Its App for Linux Users http://news.softpedia.com/news/it-s-time-to-ditch-skype-and-teamspeak-discord-launches-its-app-for-linux-users-511753.shtml _____________________________________________________________________ Distro Discussion The Revenge Installer is a program made by our friend Jody James, which is a Graphical Installer for Arch Linux to make installing vanilla arch an easy task. It walks you through the steps by asking you questions and before you know it, you will have a brand new plain vanilla arch with the desktop of your choice. I love Linux but don't like playing movies or music because the audio out is not normalized and I have manually adjust the volume levels constantly. In Windows I use K Lite codec pack which has a plugin option to normalize the main audio out, but I can't seem to find a way to do this in Linux. Any help will be greatly appreciated. We Have an Answer! (gzenum2) - Viewer to Destination Linux Hey guys, great show, loving it ! Had the same problem with normalizing sound and this is how I solve it, it's pretty easy, in your distribution find and install LADSPA plugins, then just edit /etc/pulse/default.pa and add this two lines at the end : load-module module-ladspa-sink sink_name=compressor plugin=sc4_1882 label=sc4 control=1,1.5,401,-10,20,5,12 set-default-sink compressor Reboot and it's all good ;) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thanks for Watching and we will see you next week on Destination Linux Podomatic podcast page http://nextdestinationlinux.podomatic.com/ Podomatic RSS Feed http://nextdestinationlinux.podomatic.com/rss2.xml Destination Linux YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWJUSpXVHTaHErtGWC5qPlQ
