Welcome to the tweet trends podcast. Hey, what's trending today? Hey, I mean, hey girl And you are tuned in to try and it's the quickest way to find out what's trending today Hey there. Welcome back to tweet trends today.

We're gonna talk about destination weddings. Let's get started Today's episode is coming to you from Lake Como, Italy Yes I am out of the country and here for my brother's destination wedding and it just so happens that there's a couple in Chicago that just recently Had a situation with their destination wedding in Jamaica and a lot of people are talking about it What this couple did was they posted an invoice on their Facebook page for the people who were no show no call Yes, they kind of skipped out on their RSVP So how the story goes is that they asked these people multiple times. Are you coming? Are you coming?

Are you coming? Are you coming? And these people are like yes, yes, yes So they paid the two hundred forty dollars per person and what happened these people were no shows So they posted it to let people know, you know what? This is what we spent for you and it ain't cool now They didn't send it directly to anyone but what they did was they put it out there They put it out there in the universe and the cool thing is they did get some apologies from people and I'm sure they got money as well Where people were like, you know what that was kind of messed up We could at least give them something on it if not the entire 240 however The idea that I'm here at my brother's destination wedding in Italy I wanted to find out what some of the people here thought about that same type situation Is it considered classless to post that to let people know or is that uncouth or are they well within their rights and my brothers?

Um answer to that question was pretty interesting and I got a couple of other people's idea on it as well So I'm gonna share that with you, but I just thought it was really cool Like hey, how cool is this I'm going to a destination wedding everybody's talking about a destination wedding So let's dive a little deeper depends on the person depends on the person So some people will get in and voice another's win Why? I'm a friend and family kind of guy depends on and it could be a family around a like I was in your neighborhood I'm gonna get in boys That's not equal Did I say thing? Morning Did I say anything about being an honest? I'm being honest Some people get an invoice Because there's some people that are notorious to doing stuff like that I'm a senior and in boys and you're gonna learn over time that you should be doing that Some people think that's why it's really kind of depends on the person But some people, if they had an issue, I mean things happen I wouldn't blame them, I wouldn't charge them Because some things are out of their hands But there's other people that are notoriously doing that So yeah, I'm an ambushed because you're gonna learn to stop doing stuff like that You're saying that people with A good excuse If they didn't call, then they're cool But you got no good excuse You didn't call, I didn't know what was happening But you can't hold them to it though Oh, you were going to litigation over there?

You know, like somebody we know who kept a grad for what? 15 years? Because someone didn't send a thank you note So you're saying that every chance you got you would kind of let them know You got tricks tonight, you still be 120 Got it, got it, got it Okay, I see you, I see your number from now John, you said you think it's good across the board Yeah, if you've asked them multiple times and they've confirmed You know, there should be some accountability for that That's what I would do Now, did you have a destination money? No, when I got married, I had no money So you were ambushed in people anyway, just because, you need some money I was invoicing my parents, yeah Okay, so you're like straight across, because he's saying he'd only send invoices to certain people To teach them a lesson, but they're like across the board If you didn't let me know, then you'd send But I think most of my friends who RCP would definitely come or have a really good reason and say, hey look, I'm gonna send you the money anyway Right, that's what I think my friends would do Right, well so you know, that's my thought too, because if you don't come but you got invited, you should still send a gift or something Right, so why not go ahead and send the cost for that plate?

Like maybe you didn't plan on sending whatever that amount was But consider it now, because you know, why not? For a good cause, right? Yeah, but what do you think? I've asked, it depends on like, I don't know, I almost agree That's a tough one It is a tough one You're thinking, your head, it depends on who the person is I actually sometimes do, because you're like, oh that person is that, you know, but I don't think I could do it But you know, it's your wedding, you're spending the money, it's their guest So that was the other side that people argued, that well, you're having the wedding, you're gonna spend this money regardless You had your budget, you're staying in the budget, I planned to spend that much, you know, you wanted a way to come You made the cut before the invitation, so really show up or not, that's on you Yeah, and if I, you know, it depends on how many people, because if I was having a wedding, you know, the people, you know, you're, that's on your guest list too Because if you're going big and bagging a lot of people, I mean the odds are some people aren't gonna show up So you gotta look at the odds too, you know, the more people you have, you have more intimate ones, destinations, but I wouldn't charge you You just think about every time you see them, like, you know, my wedding I don't even have friends that wouldn't show up at my wedding though, I mean, I would be, you know, it's just, yeah, without a wedding too And if there was a good excuse, I kind of meant to my friends just not showing up, and if they had a reason, I would probably be like, I get it, no problem It's probably gonna be too easy, especially if it doesn't change it, so I don't think I would Okay, so that was comments from my brother, one of his groomsmen, and another young lady that's here for the wedding Personally, I'm torn on this one because I would be in my feelings if you just flaked out on me and didn't show up to my event after I'd asked you numerous times If you were coming and on top of that, paid a heavy per person bill because I wanted you there I'd like to think that you don't just invite anyone to a destination anything, you know, you want your closest and best friends there as well as family members However, I think for me, if you didn't come to my event, I would be more concerned about you and your well-being Because if we're having to go out of the country and you didn't show up, well, what happened?

Was there something wrong with the transportation? Did you get detained for some strange reason? Are you on the no-fly list? Like, what happened that caused you to not make it there?

Like, personally, from this particular trip, I had issues getting here I should have flown out on Sunday, arrived here on Monday, but I did not get here until Wednesday And then on top of that, after getting here on Wednesday, I didn't get to the hotel until way late because of issues with transportation And because people knew that I was coming, they knew to be concerned when they didn't see me, simple as that So to me, it extends further than just the money portion It's more of a, this is supposed to be a fun event for me and my family and friends And now it's turned into a not so great thing because now I'm concerned and worried and wondering, well, what happened to this person, the next person, the next person? And then, you know, to find out later that he just blew us off because you had a better offer closer to home, less money Like, no, no, I'm gonna have to let you know about yourself and I'm gonna have to tell you And personally, I'm more of a posted on social media versus a come directly to you and send you an invoice type thing Whereas in talking to my sister, she was like, I wouldn't post it on social media, I would go directly to the people and say, you know what, this is how much I pay for you And I would appreciate it if I could get some ROI, so I'm gonna turn on my investment, so what's up, how much money you're giving me in the place of this So it's just, it's interesting, I think it's interesting that different people see it in different ways Because then there are other people like, you know what, you spent it, you were gonna spend it anyway, so why even worry about it, that's just on you I can't quite go along with that one because I guess I'm a penny-pincher, I'm constantly looking at my coins, so yeah, something's gonna have to be said Or I can just do like how my mom does and just hold a grudge forever and talk about it at every opportunity you get because that's my mom's deal-o That's what she does, if she gets you a gift and you do not send her a thank you or acknowledge it, oh you're gonna hear about it for years over and over again That's my brother was alluding to you Alright, well that was today's episode of Tweeter ends, thanks for joining me and I would love to hear what your thoughts are on this situation Do you let people know, do you keep it to yourself and just hold a grudge or do you just completely let it go and be like, you know what, whatever The people who were supposed to be at the event were at the event and we had a great time without the party poopers Let me know, you know where to find me on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, at heedat, that's at heedat, that's at heedat, or just look for the hashtag tweet trends Thanks again, I'm going to get out of here now and go enjoy myself in this wonderful Italy weather and I will see you guys back here again on Tuesday
