Devan Newman Joins Arizona Coaching Family | Arizona Wildcats Basketball News

Devan Newman is stepping into a new chapter as assistant coach for Arizona women’s basketball — a move fueled by family legacy, deep-rooted loyalty, and a seamless sense of belonging. The daughter of a longtime NBA coach, Newman’s career has been built on trusted relationships, from her time at Louisville to her 13-year mentorship under Bethann Shapiro Ord, whom she considers family. After years of being courted by head coach Becky Burke, Newman finally joined the program, calling it “coming home.” With strong Western recruiting ties from her time in Utah, she’s poised to strengthen Arizona’s roster — and Burke insists that without this foundation of trust, basketball smarts alone won’t win championships.
