Developing Leaders

from It's Your Business Lead it · host Dr Ron Hurst

It is funny how some senior executives operate from a plug and play perspective. They hire leaders that already have the training, development, and experience needed such that they can put them in position and let them perform. There is a flaw in this perspective. If everyone did the same, where would we find the next generation of leader? No where... Perhaps you have different perspective and believe in promoting from within. Again if you are not actively developing leaders, you are living the Peter Principle, promoting people to their level of incompetence. This is a recipe for mediocre performance. The most important role of leadership is the development of the leaders around you. The question is though how to do this. In this cast we walk through a simple process that when diligently followed will develop the leaders around you and position your firm for continued high performance. It starts with implementing a process of one on one meetings to develop trust based relationships. As this process develops, we can ask targeted questions to get them to share their thinking on strategic topics When they share their thinking, they open the door for you to mentor them on how to think through and act upon these topics. I invite you to join my mailing list at Developing Leaders Inc, where you will not only receive a free copy of my ebook on delegation but you will also get a free leadership course. Finally we are creating a community of leaders eager to learn and grow. To join us click this link and join us at Mentoring Leaders
