Jake has been on the Devilman Crybaby train for years and wanted to talk about it. Amanda however was disappointed by the show as it had been on her list, but it was a bit too heavy for her liking. What do the two do to get around this conflict of opinions? They discuss what they did and didn't like about the show, and what merits they both agreed it had. They agreed the art and animation were top-notch. Join the pair as they talk about Akira as he goes from mediocre track runner to the mighty Devilman after he gets turned into a demon. As Devilman, Akira fights to save humanity as society begins to collapse from the rise of demons! Devilman Crybaby is the 2018 remake of the classic series Devilman with a fresh take and new coat of paint while maintaining the series' old structure. The series is 10 episodes and is a great spooky season to watch! Available only on Netflix! A brief explanation of our hosts' opinions on the show. Jake loved how the series is a remake and breathed new life into the classic story's antiwar sentiment with new concepts against bigotry and accepting others. Amanda explained that the series was often just adding more heavy moments until the inevitable breaking points of the character and was often gratuitous. (This was completely valid cause I, Jake, do understand this series can be a lot) To check out part I of GateSlashers: I Want to Believe, click here to listen to where Dan and Jake join the FBI. Dan (McMahon) and fellow Dan (Hernandez) also talk about the X-Files!
