Devolution of Society - Disrespect, Disunity, and Distain for Authority

from You're Entitled to Our Opinion

Devolution is the descent or degeneration to a lower or worse state. The opposite of evolution. Recently, a televised government meeting showed us a clear example of this devolution. It's one thing for politics to be partisan but we seem to have lost the ability to respect each other. And unfortunately, the people involved are representative of what is happening in society in general. As believers, we need to operate on a different level. Christians using the word "hate" when referring to someone goes against God's Word. Sowing seeds of discord by our words and actions is an affront to God as well as a terrible testimony to those who are not walking with Christ. Preachers who use their pulpit to denigrate and castigate individuals is a misuse of their calling. People seem to relish operating in the Gift of Criticism. This devolution is so evident in our attitude toward authority. Leaders and representatives are ridiculed when they should be prayed for. Fellow citizens who should seek to find unity are focusing on areas of disagreement instead. Today's podcast centers around an examination of our hearts to see if we really are led by the Holy Spirit. We are in a spiritual warfare. We need to take the fight where it belongs...on our knees.
