已所不欲，勿施于人，是作为精神层面而言，而不是指具体的行为而言。如果将这种与人相处的原则，套用到具体行为上就容易用错。比如，我不喜欢喝酒，也不许别人喝酒；我不喜欢谈论什么，以为别人也如此。这样就会对已所不欲，勿施于人产生误解，甚至会导致相反的行为，不能处理好人与之间的关系。正确的行为，应该是我知道自己不喜欢喝酒，由此推辞别人也有不喜欢的； 我不希望别人用酒来招待我，我也不用别人不喜欢的东西或者方式去招待别人。----雷原（北京大学历史系博士后）
