On Friday it abstained from voting on a UN resolution condemning Russia (that Russia itself vetoed). But maintaining this stance will become trickier for China’s diplomats as casualties mount and the West ratchets up economic sanctions against Russia. Bloomberg reports that at least two of China’s big state-owned banks are restricting financing for purchases of Russian commodities.
