Diabetes Spotlight Featuring Birgitta Rice

The happy healthcare host, Mr. Divabetic shines the spotlight on Birgitta I. Rice, MS, RPh, CHES, a renowned researcher in health, wellness and stress management.  Her work at the Universities of Wisconsin and Minnesota led her to realize the benefits of relaxation training for people with diabetes and limited leg circulation and from this came the WarmFeet Intervention.  Her company, Health Education for Life and this innovative technique have received attention and praise from the Centers for Disease Control, the American Diabetes Association and numerous national and international healthcare publications including Diabetes Care.  Her personal journey living with diabetes is an inspiration and her dedication to wellness exemplifies the attitude of a true diva. Divabetic was inspired by the late music legend, Luther Vandross and created in 2005 by Max 'Mr. Divabetic' Szadek, who, as Vandross' assistant of 14 years, witnessed his boss, mentor, and friend struggle in silence and solitude with the diabetes and its related complications. Since its inception, Divabetic has presented outreach programs in 15 major U.S. cities, reaching hundreds of thousands of women, their families and health care professionals.
