Diamond Diehards: deGrom Scratched, Yanks Host Astros, Tempers Flare, Chili Hits the Pike, May the 4th Be With You

Joe Rizzo brings you baseball. Riz and "The Dawg" Jeff Healy did a Star Wars Day show, so May the 4th be with you! There was so much going on in baseball and the guys covered all the bases. Jacob deGrom got scratched from his start for the Mets in St. Louis as the guys were hitting the air, but they were able to go with it and do an early assessment of what this means to Dawg's club. There was an examination of some of the Mets' pitchers injuries over the years. The Mets had previously fired hitting coach Chili Davis late the previous night, in a move that made waves, as prized shortstop Francisco Lindor had not hit at all in his first month in Flushing. What does it mean to the organization, and to Lindor? It was up for discussion. Tempers have flared around baseball, and some of the run-ins were brought up by the guys, not to mention the dubious umpiring calls that have reared their ugly heads the first month of the season. Did they blame everything on Adrian Hernandez? Maybe. And as the world blames Commissioner Rob Manfred for everything that is not right with America's Pastime, Riz & Dawg gave the commish a fair shake, at least, and broke down some of the "new" rules they do not like or could at least live with, and why. The timing of losing streaks matters to big-market teams more than others! Riz explained the method behind his tweet and indicated the reason for the Yankees' resurgence to .500 at 14-14 after a 5-10 start that had fans feeling like the sky was falling.
