Diamond Diehards: Ray Montgomery, Special Assistant to the GM of the Milwaukee Brewers

Joe Rizzo brings you baseball. Riz teamed up with Fordham classmate Ray Montgomery, who is the Special Assistant to the General Manager of the Milwaukee Brewers, and they covered a lot of ground. Montgomery patrolled the outfield with the Houston Astros from 1996-98, but has enjoyed a career off the field for the better part of the last two decades. Riz and Ray walked back through his career from Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, NY, through his time at Fordham, in the Show, and then his finish in the minors. Included was the amazing story of Ray's only career major-league home run, and the shared anecdote longest homer ever hit at Fordham's Jack Coffey Field. They covered the MLB front-office areas from scouting, player development and roster construction to the potential labor issues and management and uncertainty of a truncated season in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
