Diamond Diehards: Riz & Larry Fleisher of Forbes talk MLB locker rooms, simulation sleepers

Joe Rizzo brings you baseball. Riz was joined by Larry Fleisher of Forbes, who also is a long-time wire-service reporter, mere hours ahead of the long-awaited MLB season opener between the NY Yankees and World Series champion Washington Nationals. Larry mostly covers the Yankees but has been all over the sports map. Like Riz, he is a veteran of ESPN SportsTicker from back in the day, although they never actually worked together, missing out by a very short time. Riz & Fleisher (@LarryFleisher) recounted war stories from MLB locker rooms, compared the Strat-O-Matic simulation to Larry's personal sim, and used the data and knowledge to try and uncover sleeper teams and players for the 60-game sprint season. Larry is reticent about traveling to cover games at the stadiums because of the COVID situation and explained why, which led to a discussion about the effect of the pandemic on the media, teams and everyday workers inside and outside of baseball. On a side note, Larry became the first voice in the history of the podcast that did not attend Fordham University. He went to St. John's. He also worked for Strat-O-Matic ... but that is a teaser for his next appearance on Diamond Diehards.
