Diamond Diehards: Tom Brady Wins Another Super Bowl, the Dodgers Get Trevor Bauer

Joe Rizzo brings you baseball. Riz & Jeff "The Dawg" Healy worked the baseball angles coming out of Super Bowl 55, in which Tom Brady claimed his seventh title, defeating Patrick Mahomes in the quarterback battle. There are a lot of baseball ties the guys uncovered, aside from the obvious about Mahomes' father being a former MLB pitcher. The segues were aplenty. Riz welcomed in the growing new audience with a reset of who he and Dawg are and how they got here, and then it was on to the Strat-O-Matic Elite Media Experts League chatter. It was not just Bauer changing addresses, though, as Riz & Dawg analyzed the A's-Rangers trade, and the re-signings of Yadier Molina to the Cardinals and Marcell Ozuna to the Braves, respectively. Dawg dug deeper into the contract numbers and what they mean today and in the future for the way teams do business, using Bauer and D.J. LeMahieu, along with Ozuna, as examples. Diehard Dads gave Riz a chance to vent about ordering food for the family, and somehow producer Xavier Rizzo became the hero of the segment. Dawg presented Veteran of the Day. With a nod to Black History Month, it was Hall of Famer Louis “Big Bertha” Santop, the first Negro League superstar. A veteran of the Navy (1918-19), Santop once outhit Babe Ruth in a 1920 postseason series.
