暌違20年，日本2024年7月3日再度發行新鈔。有經濟學家指出，受到日本社會逐漸走向「無鈔化」影響，這次換發新紙幣「可能會是最後一次」。由於1台可以辨識新鈔機器的成本高達數百萬日圓，有業者決定不更新，直接轉向全部使用電子支付或QR碼支付；餐廳餐券機、停車場繳費機只有5成更換設備以因應新紙鈔，飲料自動販賣機也只有2成至3成更換機器。 -- Hosting provided by SoundOn
