Hi, I'm Megan Segura. And I'm Eric J. Mack. And this is The Daily Dish, Bravo's official podcast.
In this week's episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac, Ashley told the group she was writing a character statement on behalf of Monique after her decision to countersue Candace. As you guys know, I had the pleasure of interviewing the entire cast of The Real Housewives of Potomac for bravotv.com's exclusive season 5 after show. In the latest installment, Giselle explained why she was highly disappointed by Ashley's character assassination of Candace, with Robin echoing that Ashley's decision to do so was unfortunate. Plus, Wendy revealed just how scared she is of snakes after that evil prank the ladies pulled on her.
And in our Bravo Insider exclusive clip, which can only be seen on bravotv.com, Karen explained if she was trying to ruin Juan's proposal to Robin. Some of the voices you'll hear beyond the cast are producers and Daily Dish podcast guests, Real Housewives of Potomac executive producer Kamar Basaraj and Bravo's VP of Current Production, Josh Brown. AKA the people who know all the secrets. Let's take a listen.
Ashley comes by to chat with you guys, and you guys learn in this moment that she has provided a statement for Monique about Candace. Monique is finally countersuing against Candace, and Monique asked me to write a statement for her case. I just didn't understand why Ashley was getting involved. And I didn't understand why she was allowing Monique to use her in this way.
I already couldn't believe that Monique had the nerve to countersue and to press charges. Like that was just unbelievable. So the fact that Ashley would even involve herself in that was like, like really? Like, are you serious?
Like, come on now. Like, it just, it didn't feel right to me. And I was disappointed in Ashley for doing that. I decided to write the statement for my friend because she was really facing some really serious charges.
I understand that Ashley clearly has issues when it comes to Candace. I get that. But to, to get involved in this legal case when you weren't even there, you didn't even see the fight. It's like, why are you sticking your nose in this?
What does Monique have on you? But yours is just want to say, I walked to the bathroom and I didn't see anything, right? It's not about the, it's not a witness. It's a character.
Oh, so she wants you to assassinate Candace's character. Okay. I think it's fair that I didn't say anything that wasn't true. It's not as though I made something up.
I didn't, you know, have to doctor or even like make up a fable in relation to what Candace had done. Everything that I wrote was objectively, well, I guess subjectively objective about what Candace had done to me, how everything had played out and how it made me feel. The whole point of counter suing someone and pressing charges is for them to be held accountable for those charges. So technically you're trying to have, instead of, you know, saving Monique from jail, you're trying to send Candace to jail for something that really didn't happen.
And it's, it's unfortunate. I mean, I would have understood if Ashley's statement was in support of Monique's character. Right. If it was saying, this is my friend, she's great.
She's a wonderful hostess. She makes bonfires. Like that would have been great. But, but instead she's talking about Candace's character.
Like that's where I had the problem. It does nothing but hurt Candace. It's an assassination of her character and to help Monique. So yeah, I was highly disappointed.
I didn't, I, I was kind of blown actually that Ashley would get involved. Really. Honestly, while I know that we were trying to rebuild our friendship and while we were making a little bit of headway, that outcome of what had happened to Monique was so much more important to me in that moment. Candace brings up that she is ready to become a mother.
There has been a little, a bit of a change in the way that I feel about a lot of things. And I feel like I'm ready to have kids. I really support any woman or man who wants to embark on the parenthood journey. Like it's, it's a beautiful feeling when you feel like it's your time and it's a love you want to experience.
Like all that is so great, flowery. Yes, all of that. So yes, I'm so happy that you want to be a mom. I think it's so great.
But at what point do you start empathizing with and understanding how you could have hurt and impacted someone else in the past? Obviously a point of contention between us last year was the fact that you were doubting the anxiety and the pain that my family was going through when we suffered our miscarriage. Ashley took the mic to share their miscarriage story and no tears, but all this. This was, this was a life that we had made together.
I just don't buy it. Well, honestly, you know, Candace drug Ashley, you know, over her desires to get pregnant. So it, it's expected, honestly, that, you know, Ashley would have this conversation with her if she was going to share this with the group. I have a really hard time with Ashley in general because I struggle to identify genuineness with her.
And it's just very funny that she picks and chooses when she wants to have feelings, especially as someone who has seen her in person as a part of this group, be very unforgiving and hurtful to other women in this group. Just remember how you attacked my family and my choices that I made for my family. You are not in a situation that is conducive to a happy life. Get the f*** out of here.
Just how you feel about your motherhood journey and how she was judgmental. That's how I felt about you attacking my family. It just makes me sort of shake my head that it's like, okay, now that you are a mother and you are in this new space, we're all just supposed to acquiesce to where you are and forget who you were five minutes ago. No.
I mean, I'm perfectly capable and willing to just, you know, to not harp on who you were. But don't, don't backpedal on me because I have the receipts and I'll throw them in your face. And let me be clear. I have never, ever pretended as though I'm this guardian angel who has never made any mistakes.
And all I do is blow fairy dust and kiss ass. I've never, ever given any indication that that's who I am or who I claim to be. I've made mistakes just like everyone else in this group. And I have hurt some of these women who are my friends, just as they have hurt me.
When I had had my issue with Monique, I can't drink some wine and you're gonna make that sit there like I have an issue. There's been a lot of hurtful things said, you know, behind social media. A few weeks ago when somebody actually said you lost the pregnancy because you're an alcoholic. When I actually had a miscarriage and I realized how I was feeling and all of the sadness and hurt I was feeling.
And I realized that I wasn't as sensitive to Monique as I should have been. I had this very strong desire to apologize to her and to do anything possible to make amends. Now that Candace, and I don't think Candace just woke up that morning deciding she wanted to be a mom. I think Candace has been thinking about it for quite some time.
Why is it that it was still so difficult for her to apologize to me? And in this instance, I'm asking for accountability from someone who did something that was directly impactful and related to what we're talking about right now. It's harsh when, you know, once you put negative feelings out there, you can't put it back. You can't take them back.
They're out there. So Ashley has a right to her feelings tonight about this subject. And were you surprised though by the way maybe Candace reacted because she remained calm and she apologized? For whatever pain or hurt that I caused you and your family, I apologize.
Period. I'm genuine right now. Okay. What you don't know is, after the reunion last year, I told Candace, you've got to let the girls see who I know.
I don't know if she'll ever give me that credit, but I sat down with her mom, Chris, and her at lunch in New York. And I said, look, show them what you show me. And so, yes, I am very proud that Candace is, you know, making this huge personal growth. And I was really happy for her.
And growth takes time and work. And she put in the work for that. And we've seen that behavior more than once this season. So that, that, that growth is, is legitimate.
And I'm really proud of Candace for that. I want to talk about something really fun that happens on the Portugal trip. So you guys pull a prank on Wendy in her hotel room. Oh Lord, they did.
Yes. Look, we have a lot of great sorority girls in this group. And that was a sorority girl move. I'm not a sorority girl.
Hazing is hazing. I've never been hazed. You're not gonna haze me. That ain't gonna happen.
But if you're gonna hang out with us, you gotta be able to hang out with us. You gotta roll with the punches. And it was like, it was an initiation. I don't wanna call it a hazing.
Yes. She was initiated into the group officially. I thought it was cute. It's a little bit annoying for grown women though, because we're all past college.
So I, yeah, I took one for the team. Yes, I did. You My milk for my baby. You know, when I first saw it, I was like, oh, OK, but I get it.
I get it. I respect public pumping. It's a personal decision, but that was a bit much, but I respect it. I mean, it's the healthiest way to raise your baby.
I could have been in Timbuktu, honey. I still would have been pumping these things. I don't care where I was. And I've gotten more comfortable with it.
Actually, that trip to Portugal really helped me to get more comfortable, but I was very comfortable, like, doing what I needed to do. If Dean needed to eat, I would whip it out. And before, I was like, a little bit like, oh, let me cover a little bit. No, this is what I need to do to feed Dean.
This is what I'm gonna do. And most of these women have seen my breasts before anyway. So, like, what's the difference now? Now there's just milk coming out of them to actually satiate and feed a child.
If anything, y'all should be giving me high fives. When you got to pump, you have to pump. I was proud of myself. Yeah, yeah.
With this baby, oh, shit, everybody look out. I'm pulling this thing out no matter where I am. Oh, baby hungry, titty's out every which way I go. There will be no stopping me now.
Yeah. Of course I'm gonna ask to be a little nosy, but why wouldn't I if you didn't give me a heads up, Giselle? So don't act all dramatic now because I asked the obvious. I can't respect Karen for how she handled this at all.
