Durch den Klimawandel wird es in unseren Breiten allerdings immer heißer und dabei stellt sich die Frage, wie sich unsere Städte diesen Veränderungen anpassen können, um nach wie vor lebenswert zu bleiben? Dr. Tanja Tötzer forscht am AIT Austrian Institute of Technology nach Antworten und konkreten Lösungen. Ihr Forschungsbereich „digital resilient cities“ im AIT Center for Energy ist an der Schnittstelle von Klima, Mobilität und Energie, im Kontext der Stadtentwicklung verortet. In großen Städten wird diese Expertise immer stärker nachgefragt. Hierbei unterstützen digitale Werkzeuge und Methoden: Simulationen werden berechnet, um den Effekt von Maßnahmen abzuschätzen und Handlungsempfehlungen zu geben. Dabei ist nicht nur die Erhitzung der Städte ein Thema, sondern bspw. auch die Wasserversorgung und die Auswirkungen von Extremwetter auf die Infrastruktur. Im Gespräch mit Stadt | Land | Fluss sprechen wir mit Tanja Tötzer über diese Themen und erfahren von smarten Maßnahmen, mit denen unsere Städte lebenswert bleiben können.
