A two-year study involving 493 adults found that people consuming artificially sweetened beverages lost about 10.6 pounds, compared with 8.2 pounds for water drinkers. Researchers found no meaningful weight-loss disadvantage from diet drinks, although both groups participated in weight-management programs.
