Different on Purpose

For a long time, being the black sheep of my family felt like something I needed to fix.I wanted to fit. I wanted to be understood. I wanted my family to see who I really was and accept me for it. So I tried to show them. I tried to explain myself. I tried to find a version of me that would finally make sense to them.But the more I stepped into who I actually was, the more I seemed to trigger the people around me.Eventually, I stopped trying.And somewhere in that surrender, I realized something that changed everything: their discomfort with who I was wasn’t proof that there was something wrong with me. It was showing me something about them.Being the black sheep gave me a front-row seat to the beliefs, fears, expectations and generational wounds that had shaped my family long before I came along.
