Different Part 3

from Open Arms Podcast · host open arms community church

Different - Making the most of our differences (Part 3) Psalm 139:13-14 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. EVERYONE is uniquely, fearfully (awesomely), and wonderfully created by God. PERSONALITIES vary in expression, emotional wiring, perception, and cognitive process. Personalities provide lots of opportunity for MISUNDERSTANDING and TENSION. 3 Things to remember to live in HARMONY with different personalities: 1. Take the relationship seriously, find the value in their personality, and be a STUDENT of one another. 2. Keep a RIGHT perspective of your own personalities strengths, weaknesses, and uniqueness. (Romans 12:3) 3. God expects EVERY personality to be conformed to and controlled by the character of Christ. Galatians 5:22-26 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. 1Corinthians 13:4-8 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. The ultimate goal is for every personality to be a unique expression of GOD’S love and truth. (Romans 12:2; 8:29; Ephesians 4:20-24; Colossians 3:12-14; 1Peter 1:13-16)
