Same culture. Different complexions. Very different experiences.In this episode of Split Perspectives, we’re getting into colorism in the Black community from both sides of the shade chart. One of us is light-skinned, the other is dark-skinned, and while we’ve shared a lot of the same spaces, the way we’ve been treated in those spaces hasn’t always been the same.We’re talking dating preferences, childhood experiences, beauty standards, “pretty for a dark-skinned girl,” light-skin stereotypes, favoritism, family comments, social media, and the things people swear “aren’t that deep”… when they absolutely can be.This isn’t about deciding who had it worse.
