Digging Deeper: Dwell in the Lord's House (Psalms 84-88)

from Wrestling with Theology · host Rev. Doug Minton

"For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness" (Psalm 84:10). "Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land" (Psalm 85:9). "But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. Turn to me and be gracious to me; give your strength to your servant, and save the son of your maidservant. Show me a sign of your favor, that those who hate me may see and be put to shame because you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me" (Psalm 86:15-17). "On the holy mount stands the city he founded; the LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwelling places of Jacob" (Psalm 87:1-2). "Do you work wonders for the dead? Do the departed rise up to praise you? Is your steadfast love declared in the grave, or your faithfulness in Abaddon? Are your wonders known in the darkness, or your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?" (Psalm 88:10-12)
