The Department of Energy recently announced the proposed phase II of the National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor (NIETC). A list of preliminary, potential corridors includes the Midwest Plains, spanning 5 miles wide and 780 miles long across portions of Illinois, Indiana, Kansas and Missouri.
