Without our partner in survival, doggies, we would no have evolved to become civilized and dominate the planet. Humans have NOT been the apex predator for most of our existence. With the help of dogs, we warded off predators, hunted together, they helped us settle down and farm by herding and protecting our crops, and enabled us to sit around and develop our neocortex.
