Patty O’Machel is on the nationally recognized leader and on the front lines of (DAW) Disability Awareness Education in schools. Why this kind of programming is important?  Why are children learning and understanding the disabilities of their peers important?  Why schools need to be the change agent in the world and help their students learn about the kid sitting next to them. If we consciously teach children about these differences when they’re young, then we are creating a community of people who embrace others and don’t let fear of differences dictate their lives. That is her mission… and today we’ll learn what’s she’s doing translate what might seem like a pretty lofty idea into action.
