Disability Movement - is it possible - Hosted by Craig Sicilia

from Craig Sicilia founder BIR · host Craig Sicilia

A Disability Movement Tonight we will have a new episode with Cheryl Green and talk about her new upcoming movie “Who am I to Stop It” and maybe get one of the cast members in.  It’s an incredible story about survivors and their personal journeys. As Well we shall talk about our disability movement.  It has been a difficult journey for me as a person.  The last 7 years have seemed like 2 life-times.  I have learned so much combined with so many failures.  My mission or goal was to be part of the biggest movement in history as people with disabilities came together for the greater cause, one of equity and inclusion.   A place where all were welcome no matter what.  Though there have been many successes over the years, people working together building each other up and accepting each other mistakes and all.  This is not without disappointment at times as we create opportunities to empower people it ends up being a boxing ring where people want to be right rather than do right.  I have lost friends and support believing people will overcome.  It has been one thing advocating against those who have hi-jacked our disability for profit and image is one thing but how do you advocate for those who would destroy each other to be right.  All of this combined with the constant anger of all those who are powerless in their lives who put anger in each other because they don’t believe exactly the same, or believe they invented disability and its movement.  Or the anger when a contributor shares their message with too much color, or is negative everyone is so quick to judge each other. Disillusioned, beaten and shaken like so many others out there.  Makes one wonder if it’s even possible or is it just a waste of time -  Listen to my rants tonight on my monolog and you tell me is it worth it and why
