Disabled Louth Woman Pleads with Policy Makers to Allow Emotional Support Animals Travel on Public Transport - 14/10/2025

We were joined on The Agenda this morning by Ellen Garvey, a Drogheda woman living with Spina Bifida, who is pleading with policy makers to allow Emotional Support Animals to travel on public transport and to be allowed entry to public places.39-year-old Ellen described her beloved dog, Treasa, as she launched a campaign to allow ‘therapy ‘dogs be allowed to accompany their owners on public transport throughout Ireland. She said: “Treasa saved my life, and she is my lifeline, and I should be able to travel on public transport with her”. Ellen, who has Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus and suffers from Epilepsy, was speaking ahead of the official launch of a new national advocacy group for people with disabilities, Cothrom, who argue that poverty amongst this sector is more than money and includes exclusion of any kind.
