June 16, 2025 Daily Devotion: "Discernment for Purity" Philippians 1:10 New Living Translation 10 For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. Have you ever looked back on a situation and realized it wasn't worth the emotional energy you put into it? Not only did you waste time worrying and fretting, you also missed out on more productive activities. Most likely none of us can think of a single time we looked back and thought, I'm so glad I worried about that. When Paul wrote his letter to the Philippians, it was important to him that they were able to discern whatreally mattered in life. This is also a key element in our efforts to live joyfully. When we love well and seek wisdom (Philippians 1:9), we can focus our energies on things that truly matter. How can we know we're being distracted from what is excellent? Things that don't matter drain our joy. Whenwe're doing the things that God deems important, we'll experience the joy of being obedient.
