Discipleship: Going Deeper

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”Acts 1:8 (NKJV)This week we will be looking at the word that Pastor Edwin Fillies shared on Sunday titled ‘Discipleship: Going Deeper.Firstly, we need to let God connect our potential to our calling. When He does this, we will find a sense of purpose and when we have this purpose no force of the enemy will be able to stop what God has placed inside of us.Thirdly, it is important to realise that discipleship is inseparable from community. Getting someone saved is not the full extent of discipleship. Evangelism and discipleship are two parts of the same process. Evangelism is like a wedding. We love it when someone gives their life to God and we celebrate with them. Discipleship is like being married. It is a lifelong process that requires intentional work and time invested in relationship.Finally, we need to rely on God’s power to bring multiplication. We cannot do this in our own strength. We need the Holy Spirit to help us by leading and empowering us. When we rely on His strength, we will see results beyond anything we could hope to achieve in our own power.How can you allow God to connect your potential with your calling?Where are you in your discipleship journey?
