Discover, Report, Solve: At UTC, Students In Solutions Journalism Explore Mental Health

(Solutions Journalism Network)(Aired Thu 1/16/25)One form of journalism goes beyond reporting on problems and challenges in society by offering real solutions.Students here on our campus, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, are now participating in what’s known as “solutions journalism” - and their project focuses on mental health.On Wednesday, January 22nd, UTC’s Department of Communication kicks off the launch of its new Solutions Journalism initiative on the first floor of Lupton Hall, starting at 5 PM.The launch features a town hall discussion, a panel of experts and a chance for student journalists to get started on their story ideas.Jim Tanner, a lecturer in Communication at UTC - and Mallori Crocker, a sophomore - are leading the initiative here on campus.
