Discovering Romance with Author Tiya Sowell

from Christian Readers Community Podcast · host Christian Readers Community

What happens when your real life begins to look a lot like the story you’re writing? In this episode of the Christian Readers Community Podcast, I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with Tiya Sowell—screenwriter, TV producer, and now author of a powerful debut novel, The Misadventures of Egypt, that mirrors her own journey in the most unexpected ways. Tiya opens up about the real-life moments that inspired her story and how she’s learned to see God’s hand even in the plot twists she never saw coming. We talked about romance that honors God, what it really means to write from a place of faith, and the bold transition she made that left me—and I’m sure will leave you—completely in suspense. --- About Tiya Sowell: Tiya Sowell began her career in television news and transitioned to entertainment in 2012 as a music intern for BET. She was later hired by VH1 as a Production Assistant on a new reality show and has since worked in both non-scripted and scripted television as a Locations Manager, Transcriber, Producer, Production Coordinator, Writer, and more. Her many television credits include Front Seat Chronicles, Christmas on the Coast, The Real Estate Commission, Black Ink Chicago, Love and Hip Hop New York, Food Court Wars, The Reliant, Southern Comfort, and more. Tiya has been commissioned to write two feature films—Vampires of South Central and Lady’s Day—and has developed numerous episodic scripts for film festivals. She also served as a writer in two professional writers’ rooms. Currently, Tiya is an Associate Producer for the new Merit Street Media streaming network, specifically for Dr. Phil Primetime. She is also a founding member of the production group Historyians and continues developing quality, educational, and entertaining content for multi-generational audiences. --- The author is inviting you to read her debut novel on Spotfund: https://spot.fund/nv5km6nce. /> Subscribe to her YouTube channel: @blackfacesentertainment435 LinkedIn: /> *** A Personal Note to Our Listeners Thank you for being here—your time, attention, and heart make this community what it is.
