Dishonor, Saving Face, Death by Compassion and the Warrior's Walk

from Running Man Self Regulation Skills Project · host Armando Dominguez PhD Health Psychology, Educator, Martial Artist, Researcher

Ep 19. We often get stuck in social situations where our self image is at risk for compromise and we may believe that is potentially damaging and is a tangible terrible thing. When we realize that we are playing a socialized game of in-group and out-group dynamics  that we feel trapped and unable to escape the socialized hamster wheel. Often we worry about saving face and preserving self-image and in high school this can lead to a great deal of stress that can lead to  negative social pressure, acting out and death. The sad truth is that even when we are adults, some never grow beyond this level and suffer as a result. The tips in this podcast stem from the teachings of 16th century swordsman  Miyamoto Musashi and lived in Japan during turbulent times and did not believe in false honor and blood oaths. He saw through the false self image problem and freed himself from the wheel of false honorifics and misplaced ideals of the larger culture where honor was more important than human life.  These understandings can help you elevate yourself in your life. Hey folks, let me know what you think about the Running Man Podcast.
