Dishonoring Your Father and Mother

Ordained minister Dennis Hall and his guest Pastor George Whirley at the New Creation Restoration Church and Prison Ministry in Indianapolis, IN discuss the fifth commandment, "Honor your father and mother so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you." (Exodus 20:15) They point out that the word honor means to place a high value on someone, a level of reverence. The way parents help children avoid the evils of the world are reviewed along with the importance of honoring parents as part of the passing of the Christian faith to the next generation. The many ways that children of all ages dishonor their parents are part of this discussion.  The Scriptural command to honor parents does not diminish when parents do not seem worthy of honor.
