Disney Cancels Live-Action Gargoyles Reboot Series

The proposed live-action reboot of Gargoyles at Disney+ has officially been canceled, ending the latest attempt to revive the 1990s animated cult classic. The project was initially announced in 2023 with Gary Dauberman and James Wan attached as executive producers. While rumors of the show’s demise began with comments from original co-creator Greg Weisman, internal sources have since confirmed that the series is no longer in development. The reboot intended to feature the character Goliath navigating modern-day New York, mirroring the premise of the dark, fantasy-driven original series. Despite the strong fan following for the franchise, this specific adaptation has joined a history of unsuccessful efforts to bring the stone warriors back to the screen. Over three decades after the original show premiered, the property remains dormant without any active plans for a live-action transition. This episode includes AI-generated content.
