Looking back on Disney going from the late 70s and into the 80s, when the House of Mouse stopped making silver screen animated features. Moving into the Disney Renaissance, 1989 - 1999, when Disney regained it's title of animation king.  But, Disney's success with movies like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King they started using a formula for success, and stopped experimenting with movies like Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Treasure Planet. Using the Disney formula makes the company a lot of money and opens the door for mass merchandising.
